The ESD card can be purchased using the VTM machine located in the laundromat or from an attendant on duty. The VTM machine only takes cash. The card is $2 and you will need two $1 bills or a single $2 bill to purchase the card.
19. How does the card system work at Wash Works Laundry Center?
All of the washers, dryers and soap vending machine use an ESD smart card to run the washer and/or dryer and to buy soap from the soap vending machine. The ESD card costs $2 and can be purchased from the VTM machine within the laundromat or from an attendant on duty. The VTM machine only takes cash. Once the card is purchased for $2 you need to add money to the card to do your laundry. After adding money to the card you need to insert the card into the washer or dryer to start the machine. The cost of the machine will be deducted from the balance on the card. For the washers the card must be placed with the chip facing up and forward. For the dryers the card must have the chip facing to the right side and facing forward when placing into the card reader for the dryer. Note: For the front load washers the door must be locked before inserting the card for the machine to start.
